I don't know if this is any help but I found very early on that the plastic mounted Solo Seat rear rack was far from adequate and had to remedy it to carry a true touring load.
I now have two configurations - the small OE rack for around town and short trips.
And a larger rack for long tours carrying 40+kgs.
Both have customised pillion pads which make it truly a two-up tourer -- though with minimal luggage.
If you are looking for a saddle bag option check out Davorallyfan's setup.IMO the best set up if you want panniers.
For my set up the key is modifying the sub-frame and welding on an additional cross-brace along with four upright mounts.

Bolts go through the braces & upright supports from beneath, thereby giving a firm & rigid fixing for the racks.

I should point out that I am told that modifying the sub-frame maybe illegal in certain countries.  In Australia, for instance.

The Solo Seat configuration

The pad - since this was taken I have had an aluminium plate beneath the inner foam padding which makes a real difference for the pillion.

This is the Mark 1 version of the larger rack which has performed well.I have since had it remade in Stainless steel with additional bracing beneath the cantilevered rear section.

I have also had a larger pillion pad made with plate to match that works well.

I hope this gives you some ideas for other options for you to explore.
Good luckRhodie.
